Friedrich von Keller (Diplomat)

August Friedrich Wilhelm Keller, 1906 by Keller ( born November 7, 1873 in Munich, † May 8, 1960 in Tutzing ) was a German diplomat.

Life

He comes from a family originally based in Swabia, first mentioned in records in 1733 Burtenbach the Mindel, and is the son of the later ennobled Royal Bavarian Lieutenant General Eugen Keller ( 1843-1938 ) and the Berta Hassold ( 1846-1929 ).

Keller studied law in Würzburg, occurred in 1895 in the Bavarian judicial service and received his doctorate in 1896. In 1899, he joined the Foreign Service and spent the first years of work in Berlin. In 1901, the displacement as vice-consul to Cairo ( Egypt), 1902 to Cape Town ( South Africa) and 1904 after Lorenco Marquez (Mozambique ). From 1905 to 1908 accredited as Vice Consul in Calcutta. From 1908 he has worked in the legal department at the Foreign Office in Berlin. During the First World War he served to the rank of major in the Royal Bavarian Landwehr until it is back in 1916 called to the Foreign Office. After the end of World War II, he is considering the change at the University of Würzburg, but is sent to the peace negotiations in Versailles by the Foreign Office and eventually displaced in the summer of 1920 as chargé d'affaires to Belgrade, where he was promoted on 18 December 1921 Envoy. Subsequently ( 1924-1928 ) was his posting as ambassador to Brussels.

From 1928 to 1933 Frederick is accredited by Keller as chargé d'affaires of the Government of the German Reich in Buenos Aires, in 1933 the change of position as a permanent commissioner of the German Empire at the League of Nations in Geneva and member of the German delegation to the Geneva Disarmament Conference. In October 1933, he witnessed the withdrawal of Germany from the League of Nations under the National Socialist newly elected government and is set for the following year for special use on hiatus. In 1935, he was reactivated and sent to his posting as ambassador to Ankara to retire in 1938.

Keller married on October 12, 1905 in Munich Irene from compatriot ( born December 7, 1880 in Munich, † March 7, 1965 in Tutzing ), the daughter of Royal Bavarian State Council and State Minister Dr. jur. H.C. Robert Ritter von Landmann (1845-1926) and Gabriele von Auer. The couple had three sons, including Rupprecht of basement and a daughter Gabrielle.
