Frielas is a comune ( freguesia ) in the county Loures. The community is 5.6 km ² and has 2166 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).

History

After D.Afonso III. had stopped frequently in the 13th century here, erected by his son, King D.Dinis, here's a property, and also spent some time in Frielas.

2012 celebrated its 485th anniversary Frielas.

Culture and sights

Among the eight listed buildings and places of the village there is, inter alia, Roman archaeological site, the ruins of the royal estate built in 1309 Paço Real de Frielas, and a Manueline cross made of limestone.

The 2009 newly built for one million euros social center of the community is home to, among other things residential aged care facilities and youth work.

Economy

A number of companies, among others in construction, metal and wood processing and the food industry are located here. Trade also has meaning here, so here is one of the two IKEA locations can be found in the Greater Lisbon area.
