Chronicle

In 1949, decided members of the Friesacher male voice choir, after a successful Goethe celebration with scenes from Faust that the Oberhof the Friesacher Petersberg would be a suitable venue for open-air performances. The club was founded in 1953. Between 1950 and 1971, the architect Hannes Sandler was ( since 1968 also Prof.hc ) as a director, stage designer and star of the engine of this company. After Hannes Sandler had to take a break for health reasons, it also meant the end of the "Old Bailey Festival " at the Petersberg.

From 1972 to 1974 was not played. In the years 1975-1977 the theater tradition, the Summer Theatre was by the municipality Friesach, which acted as organizer, revived by students at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna were commissioned under the title " Friesacher Summer Games " shape. Now, however, no longer on the Petersberg, but on the open-air facility in the courtyard of the Dominican convent (so-called Dominikanerhof ).

1978 was formed again a syndicate of Friesacher laymen who played until 1987 as " Friesacher Summer Games " ( with the municipality Friesach as organizers ) the performances themselves. Since 1988, reenters the association " Friesacher Burghofspiele " as an organizer on.

To every summer open-air productions came 1982 " Friesacher tale Sundays ," 1988 " Friesacher Christmas game" and in 2002 the " Friesacher Theatre Autumn"

In 1992, the revitalized Burghofbühne was taken at the Petersberg again.

Several Austrian premieres of several new translations such as " Monsieur Chasse " and " The Lord of the Province " ( Both translations of Hans Weigel ) and others

Until 1971 Hannes Sandler was represented in the Austria - edition of "Who 's Who".

Hannes Sandler was hired in 1968 as a guest at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in the role of village judge Adam ( The Broken Jug ).

For services to the cultural life of the Republic of Austria Hannes Sandler 1968, the honorary title of Professor hc awarded.

Several long-standing performer of Burghofspiele were honored for their contributions to the cultural life of the Golden and Silver Medal of the Republic. ( Last 2009: Valentin Pagitz, decorations in gold)
