Fritz Odemar

Fritz Otto Emil Odemar ( born January 31, 1890 in Hannover, † May 6, 1955 in Munich) was a German theater and film actor. His son Erik Ode has also become an actor.

Life

Odemars father was the court actor Fritz Odemar senior (Karl Julius Friedrich Odemar; 1858-1926 ), his mother, his wife Anna, Emma Charlotte, born Tiedemann. Fritz Odemar debuted in 1909 at the theater in Münster. His theater career took him on Mannheim and Frankfurt to different stages in Berlin, like the Berlin or the German comedy theater. There Odemar had, inter alia, in staging of Gustaf and Heinz Hilpert with. After roles in several silent films, he starred in over 130 movies. Often he embodied aristocratic types, aristocrats and diplomats.

After the Second World War, he played from 1945 to the Little Comedy in Munich. His last film appearance was undertaken as General von der Tann at the side of OW Fischer in Ludwig II - splendor and misery of a king. He was married to actress Erika Nymgau and father of actor and director Erik Ode.

His tomb is located in the cemetery in Bernau am Chiemsee.
