Production Notes

Filming began in August 1934. Was shot among other things at the Berlin Tempelhof Airport and on Helgoland.

Ludwig of well- wrote the screenplay for his own novel.

Otto Hunte designed the Filmbauten, Kurt Hoffmann assisted director Schünzel.

Hilde Hildebrand sings in this movie as Bella Amery Franz Doelles song " Love is a mystery." As this song on the radio sounds, Adolf Wohlbrück and Renate Müller dance elegantly to and receive at the end of the present members of Mavis ( Sandrock, Fritz Odemar and Hans Richter ) applause family.

Noteworthy is the accumulation of ( suspiciously observed by the Nazi regime ) film talents who clashed again in this in the Third Reich (1934), a film shot. Lead actor and director Wohlbrück Schünzel had Jewish roots and emigrated a few years later (1936 bzw.1937 ). For the same reasons left the author of well- Germany already 1935. Actress Müller was romantically involved with a Jew and was therefore set by the regime under massive pressure. Most amazing is the fact that the US-led both Jews Arnold Pressburger and Gregory Rabinovich production company Cine Alliance this movie 1934 still could produce. This was, due to the explicit approval of the first President of the Reich Film Chamber, Fritz Scheuermann.

The German post-war performance of The English marriage took place on ZDF on 21 September 1963.

Criticism

The film criticism was consistently praise for this film, which still had all the merits of a lighthearted comedy from the time of the Weimar Republic, and any dull - brown undertones lacked completely.

In Kay Weniger "It is the life you more taken for granted " is to be read: Schünzel " fleet, word witty comedy [ ... ] with an excellently placed Adele Sandrock than matronly, respect -inspiring Head of House Dragon ( " Percival ... - in this house just screams one - and that 's still me ") was a delicious farce about British society 'upper society'. "!

The great people lexicon of the film described the film as "a saucy comedy"

The lexicon of the International film praised: " Exciting, well-played ( Adele Sandrock! ) Social comedy with parody undertones. "
