Fuji (Shizuoka)

Fuji (Japanese富士 市, -shi ) is a city in Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan at the foot of the mountain of the same name.

Geography

In the south of the city is limited by the Suruga Bay on the Pacific coast and in the north the city territory extends to the foot of Mount Fuji zoom. The eastern boundary is formed by the mountain Ashitaka (爱 鹰山). The river flows through the Fuji western part of the city below Fujinomiya from north to south.

History

The city was founded in 1954 from the community Fuji (富士 町, chō ) and two villages (田 子 浦村and岩松 村) was formed in 1966, it merged with the city of Yoshiwara and the community Takaoka (鹰 冈 町, chō ), 2001, she received the status of a city with special status (特例 市, Tokureishi ).
