Futurama (season 1)

The first production season of Futurama, an American science fiction animated television series consists of 13 episodes, which were first seen on March 28, 1999 at the American broadcaster Fox. Fox kept thereby the order of production, however, shone only nine episodes as coherent transmission season and moved the remaining four in the second transmission season.

Analysis

The first three episodes can be understood as an introduction to the topic. The first shows the "time travel " of the main character from the 20th century to the 31st century and is the central trio of Fry, Leela and Bender in front, next to Professor Farnsworth. The second episode leads with Zoidberg, Hermes and Amy one the other main characters and makes the audience more closely with the company Planet Express known. After the third episode Fry has found an apartment, and the starting point for subsequent episodes is completed.

First broadcast and attendances

The pilot episode Time and Space 3000 was sent for the first time on Fox on March 28, 1999. With 19 million viewers they broke records, the second episode reached 14 million viewers. After Fox moved the time slot of the series from Sunday to Tuesday evening, after which the audience fell under 9 million. Following the publication of the ninth episode on 18 May 1999 Fox interrupted the broadcast and showed the remaining four episodes at the beginning of the second transmission season. Reception
