The Gannett Peak is 4207 meters above sea level, the highest elevation in the U.S. state of Wyoming.

Location

Gannett Peak is located in the west of Fremont County, directly on the border of Sublette County. He is both the highest peak in Wyoming as well as the highest point of the Wind River Range, a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains. The mountain chain runs west of the U.S. state of Wyoming from the northwest to the southeast and forms over a length of approximately 190 kilometers, a portion of the Continental Divide of North America and the south-eastern border of Yellowstone National Park.

The comb region of the mountain range is almost entirely designated as wilderness reserve. West of the Continental Divide is the Bridger Wilderness, in the north- east, the Fitzpatrick Wilderness and in the southeast the Popo Agie Wilderness. On the east side of the Wind River Indian Reservation, a reservation of the Eastern Shoshone and Arapaho Indians enough to the summit ridge.
