Gary Humphries

Gary John Joseph Humphries ( born July 6, 1958 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian politician, representing the Australian Capital Territory as a Senator in the Australian Senate.

Humphries was born in Sydney in 1958. He studied at the Australian National University in Canberra.

After Humphries was first elected in 1989 for the Liberal Party of Australia in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly, he was there held several ministerial posts, including serving from 1999 to 2001 Minister of Finance of the territory. 2000 he was Kate Carnell according to the office of the Chief Minister, before he was appointed Deputy Chief Minister in 1997. 2001 Humphries was replaced following the election defeat of his party by Jon Stanhope as Chief Minister. On 24 January 2003 he resigned his seat for the Legislative Assembly to replace the resigning Senator Margaret Reid in the Australian Senate. On February 18, he was finally determined by the Legislative Assembly to represent the territory in the Senate. In the Senate elections in 2004, Humphries was confirmed in office.
