Trevor Kaine

Trevor Kaine ( born February 17, 1928 in Penguin, Tasmania, † 3 June 2008) was an Australian politician and Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory.

1989 Kaine was first elected for the Liberal Party of Australia in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly. On 5 December 1989, he assumed the position of Chief Minister of the Territory, having previously his predecessor Rosemary Follett was forced to resign due to his majority. On June 6, 1991 Kaine was in turn replaced by Follett due to his majority. 1992, 1995 and 1998, he came again elected to the Legislative Assembly. After the 1998 elections, Kaine resigned from his party and founded the United Canberra Party. The party was registered on 30 July 1998. When the party broke up on 30 June 2001 itself, Kaine took his deputies mandate perceive as an Independent. In the 2001 elections he failed to be elected as an independent candidate in the Legislative Assembly.
