Geike Arnaert

Geikie Arnaert (* 13 September 1979 in Poperinge ) is a Belgian musician. She became known as a singer of Hooverphonic.

Life

She grew up on the hill country in a music-loving family, as a child she took violin and piano lessons. At the age of 9 years, she first took part in a local talent contest. At 15, she sang in a band called Bottled in Belgium. In 1997 she became the new singer of Hooverphonic after Liesje Sadonius had left the band and the envisaged as a substitute Kyoko Baertsoen got out again after only a few concerts. After a short trial period, she went on tour with Hooverphonic. On The Magnificent Tree (2000), her second album with Hooverphonic, she wrote the first texts to the title track and Pink fluffy dinosaurs.

In the years 2000 and 2003, they were each awarded as the best singer with the Belgian music award zamu Music Award.

In 2002, she appeared as a guest vocalist on the album Bring it on New Cool Collective and was lit on the soundtrack of the Belgian television series Sedes & Belli with the song Strange represented star. In 2006, she sang in a commercial of Delhaize Group.

In 2008, she appeared as a guest singer on a musical project of the Belgian singer - guitarist Bobbejaan. That same year she met the rapper cancer Vijvenveertig in his desire to work with her and headed for the single song Mijn Leven, who managed in the Belgian charts two months after the death of the rapper.

In October 2008, she announced her exit at Hooverphonic, to devote his time to her solo career. Their last concert with the band they played on December 13, 2008 in Yekaterinburg.

In October 2011, her solo debut album was released under the title For the beauty of confusion.

Her sister Kaat Arnaert is a singer of the Belgian band Sutrastore.
