Gene McDaniels

Gene McDaniels ( born February 12, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas; † July 29, 2011 in Kittery Point, Maine) was an American pop music singer, composer and producer.

Life

Eugene Booker McDaniels began as a small child in the church choir to sing, and with eleven years he was a member of a gospel quartet. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, on and studied at the Music Conservatory. As the gospel quartet went to New York, was McDaniels leader of the group. 1954 McDaniels moved to Los Angeles, where he quickly made ​​himself in the jazz clubs a good name as a jazz singer.

His first recording contract concluded McDaniels in 1960 at Liberty Records from where Tommy Gerret his producer was keeping him with works from the Brill Building, among others, Burt Bacharach and Carole King.
