Georg Liebsch

Georg Liebsch ( born April 5, 1911 in Dusseldorf, † November 10, 1998 ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

Georg Liebsch was as a teenager was small, but very strong. For this reason it took him about 18 years to the weightlifters of power sports department of Fortuna Dusseldorf. There, soon showed that he had chosen the right sport. Its development took place steadily, and he finished at the German championships in 1932 already the 2nd place in the featherweight ( up to 60 kg body weight). When his best discipline, the beidarmige Press turned out where he could use his natural power at best and therefore was world record holder. His best time began after the 1936 Olympics when he was world champion twice. It was not given the chance to participate to work on further Olympic Games in 1936. Instead, he had to go to war in 1940, from which he returned after a long captivity until 1949 to Dusseldorf.

He began again with the weight lifting and achieved at the country level still further success.
