Max Walter (weightlifter)

Max Walter ( born January 30, 1905 in Metz, † 1987 in Duisburg ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

Max Martin Walter was born in Metz, Lorraine, but grew up in Saarbrücken.

As a teenager, he joined the sports club SV Saar in Saarbrücken 05. He began with the struggle, but soon found to weightlifting.

Soon, first successes, and he already started in 1924 without being able to be placed in the front of the field, for the first time at the German Championships. In 1927 he was due to its high inputs favorite bantamweight, but suffered on the journey to the venue Nuremberg a car accident and could not start. In 1928 it was but so far, it was the first time German champion. Max Walter was unquestionably the best bantamweight in the world jack around 1930. He could not then show his skills on the international stage, as the bantamweight was ( to 56 kg body weight) not advertised internationally. In 1934 he moved therefore in the featherweight ( up to 60 kg body weight) and 1935 European champion promptly.

At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, he had a bad day, was approximately 20 kg behind his best performance came back and then only on the 8th Place.

After ending his playing career in 1938, Max Walter operated many years as a coach in his original club.
