George John II, Count Palatine of Lützelstein-Guttenberg

Georg Johann II von Pfalz- Luetzelstein - Guttenberg (* June 24, 1586 in La Petite-Pierre, † September 29, 1654 ) was Count Palatine of Guttenberg and since 1611, also Count Palatine of Luetzelstein.

Life

Johann Georg was the fourth son of the Count Palatine Johann Georg I of Veldenz (1543-1592) from his marriage to Anna Maria (1545-1610), daughter of King Gustav I Vasa of Sweden.

Johann Georg succeeded his father in 1592 after a division of the inheritance with his brother Louis Philippe in the reign Guttenberg. His older brothers Georg and Gustav Johann August received Veldenz or Luetzelstein. First Johann Georg was under the guardianship of his mother and his eldest brother Georg Gustav. After his brother Louis-Philippe in 1601 killed at a tournament in Heidelberg, Georg Johann II reigned alone on Guttenberg.

After the death of his older brother Johann Georg August 1611 John II also took over the county Luetzelstein.

With Georg Johann Guttenberg and the Palatinate lines Luetzelstein extinguished again, the territories fell to Georg Johann's nephew Leopold Ludwig. Georg Johann II is buried in Luetzelstein.
