Geraldine Beamish

Winifred Geraldine Beamish ( born June 23, 1883 in London as Winifred Geraldine Ramsey, † May 10, 1972 ibid ) was an English tennis player.

Life

Beamish came in 1883 in London's Forest Gate to the world. On September 30, 1911, she married tennis player Alfred Ernest Beamish.

Beamish took in 1912 at the Wimbledon Championships in part. 1919, 1922 and 1923 she was able to advance to the semifinals in singles. In doubles, she reached to the side of Irene Peacock 1921 final, subject, however, there Suzanne Lenglen and Elizabeth Ryan. 1919, 1920 and 1923, she won the doubles of the World Indoor Championships.

Beamish participated in Antwerp and at the 1920 Summer Olympics. While she was eliminated in the individual in the first round against Dorothy Holman, she was able to reach the finals in the doubles Holman side that was lost against Winifred McNair and Kathleen McKane Godfree. Thus she won the silver medal.

Most recently, she took part in the 1931 Single of the tournament of Wimbledon. She died in 1972 at the age of 88 years in London's St. Pancras.
