History
U 363 took during his service seven patrols in the North Sea. During the 5th patrol the Soviet ship was sunk with Proletarij 1123 GRT on 2 December 1944.
Inserts
After his commissioning on March 18, 1943 U 363 went first as a training boat at the 8th U- Flotilla. As of June 1944 U 363 was classified as a front boat at the 11th U- Flotilla and joined in September 1944, finally on the 13th U- Flotilla, at which it remained until the war ended.
Surrender and sinking
On May 18 or 19, 1945, surrendered KptLt. Werner Nees against the 9th Escort Group of the Royal Navy. All crew members were unharmed in British captivity. On December 31, 1945 U 363 was sunk during Operation Deadlight against 23.45 clock by artillery fire from the British ships HMS Onslaught and ORP Blyskawica.
