Geta Burlacu

Geta Burlacu (Russian Джета Бурлаку; born July 22, 1974 in Balti; actually Georgeta Povorozniuc ) is a Moldovan jazz singer. She represented Moldova at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade.

Biography

Geta Burlacu was born in the then Soviet Balti. She studied at the Academy of Music in her hometown and violin at the Conservatoire in Chisinau Moldova jazz. Since then, she sang solo and with the bands Univox Vocal Band, Acid Grape and Right horn.

Euro Vision Song Contest

In 2006, Burlacu part in the Moldovan preliminary decision. This she also won, but with two ex aequo. According to the rule, the youngest member of the jury should have decided, however, this did not decide. It was held a second qualifying round where Burlacu but no longer participated.

In 2008, she again took to the Moldovan preliminary decision and won the title Jazz A Century of Love reached the final of the preliminary decision, in which Burlacu also won. In the first semi-final of the Euro Vision Song Contest 2008 on May 20, 2008, but did not succeed Burlacu, being placed among the top ten posts and retired.
