Gibraleón

Gibraleón is a Spanish city in the province of Huelva, in the autonomous region of Andalusia. On 1 January 2013 there lived 12,411 inhabitants. The city has an area of 328 km ² and a population density of 38 inhabitants. / Km ². The city is located 26 m above sea level at the river Odiel and 14 km from the provincial capital, Huelva.

  • Castillo - A castle from the Middle Ages
  • Iglesia del Carmen - The oldest church in the city was built in 1331 in the Mudejar style and expanded to include "Christian" elements of style in the 16th century.
  • Iglesia de Santiago el Mayor - A church from the 16th century; built in the Renaissance style.
  • Parroquia de San Juan - The current parish church dates from 1380 and was built on the ruins of a mosque.
  • Convento del Vado - The monastery was founded in 1587 by the Duke to Bejar and built in Mudejar style. After it was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War in part, it was opened to the public after its restoration.
