Giro della Toscana Int. Femminile – Memorial Michela Fanini

The Giro della Toscana Femminile - Memorial Michela Fanini was discharged in 1995 and 2013 as a stage race in the women's cycling.

In the first year, two -evaluated separate stages were run. The race was organized in honor of the Italian cyclist Michela Fanini of their father Brunello Fanini. Michela Fanini had won the 1994 Giro d' Italia Femminile and was killed in an accident in the same year. The race took place annually in September. It belonged to the most UCI category 2.1 and in the last year of discharge to Category 2.HC.

The edition of 2013 ended with a protest by a majority of the riders. 63 of the 112 remaining participants refused to start at the last stage, including the overall leader Marianne Vos, after safety concerns, in particular because of a lack of from the perspective of athletes shielding from the road, by the organizer Brunello Fanini were not taken seriously. One of Fanini against three Italian participants of the protest, the two -time World champion Giorgia Bronzini, the former Italian champion Noemi Cantele and spokeswoman for the Italian rider Association ACCPI, Elisa Longo Borghini, initiated disciplinary proceedings were suspended by the Italian Cycling Federation FCI in December 2013. Fanini had threatened that the race will not take place in case of a strike. The Giro della Toscana was not included in the UCI calendar for the year 2014.
