Giuseppe Ferretto

Giuseppe Antonio Cardinal Ferretto ( born March 9, 1899 in Rome, Italy, † March 17, 1973 ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Giuseppe Ferretto studied in Rome, the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology. He received on 24 February 1923, the sacrament of Holy Orders and, after further studies in 1926 lecturer at the Pontifical Athenaeum " De Propaganda Fide ". In addition to his teaching activities he knew from 1929 to 1939 the office of the Official tential in the Vicariate of Rome, from 1939 he worked as a clerk at the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature. From 1943, he held various positions with Consistorial and at the Apostolic Signatura.

Pope John XXIII. appointed him Titular Archbishop of Serdica in 1958 and donated to him in St. Peter's Episcopal ordination. In 1959, Giuseppe Ferretto Secretary of the College of Cardinals. On January 16, 1961 it took Pope John XXIII. as cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in the College of Cardinals, on 26 March of the same year, he was elevated to Cardinal Bishop of Sabina e Poggio Mirteto. Giuseppe Ferretto participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council. From April 7, 1967 to March 1, 1973, he was Kardinalgroßpönitentiar. He died on 17 March 1973 in Rome.
