History
Döhlen was first documented in 1230 as " Doeln " and then in 1356 as " Dolen ". 1260 was called the first documented Döhle mill next to the mother parish in the village. The place name is derived from the Slavic " Doljane " ( valley dwellers ). The district Göhren is first mentioned in 1324 in documents as " Goren " and 1451 as " Goerynn ", derived from the Slavic " Gorjane " ( mountain people ).
Until January 3, 1996 Göhren was a member of the administrative community Weidatal, the community then belonged to the administrative community Auma Weidatal. On 1 December 2011, the city Auma and the communities brown village, Göhren, Staitz and Wiebelsdorf merged to form the city or rural municipality Auma Weidatal.
