History

Hohenleuben was first documented in 1267 as Luben ( Sorbian: " Bast" ) mentioned. In 1840 Hohenleuben 2,103 inhabitants living in 223 houses. By 1947 the city grew to 2,512 inhabitants, about 25 % of them were resettled. 1971 lived 2,349 people in the city and the village Brückla.
