Geography
Teichwitz located on the edge of the Thuringian Slate Mountains, on the main road 92 Greiz - Gera. Teichwitz lies 331 m above sea level. NN. The next largest cities are Gera in the north and in the south Greiz. The village is situated in the Thuringian Vogtland.

History
Teichwitz goes back to a Slavic Rundling settlement and was first mentioned in a document from 1267. Teichwitz has been official village of Saxon Office Weida, which coincided with the place after the Congress of Vienna to the Grand Duchy of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach. The irregular field consisted of 1905 307 ha
Teichwitz is a member of the administrative community Leubatal since 1991. On 31 December 2013, this was dissolved and Teichwitz joined the administrative community Wünschendorf / Elster.
