Schwaara is a municipality in the district of Greiz in Thuringia. She is a member of the administrative community on Brahmetal.

Schwaara is located east of the city of Gera at the junction with the Federal Highway 4 The district lies on the western edge of the Zeitz - Altenburger - Lösshügellandes.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are Brahmenau, Big Stone and Korbußen district Greiz and the 1994 eingemeindeten to Gera communities Röpsen and Trebnitzgrund.

History

The village Schwaara emerged as Sorbian settlement and was first mentioned in 1307 as Squwaara.
