Located in Western Cilicia Göksu (Turkish " Blue Water ", also Güksu Nehri, Coxon, Calycadnus, Saleph ) is a river in southern Turkey, which flows through the provinces of Antalya, Konya, Karaman and Mersin. Its ancient name was Calycadnus.

The river is 260 km long and has a northern and a southern source river. The northern arm is called Gökçay ( "Blue river " ), the southern Gökdere ( "Blue Stream "). Both originate in the Geyik - Dağları ( Hart Mountain ) in the Taurus Mountains between Gündoğmuş ( Antalya province, about 50 km north of Alanya ) and Hadim ( Konya ). They unite south of courage to Göksu, which flows into the Mediterranean later between Taşucu and Silifke.

In Ermenek the Ermenek Dam on the eponymous river, a tributary of the Göksu built. The Göksu should also be accumulated in the Kayraktepe Dam.

The delta of the Göksu with the lagoons at Akgöl ( " White Lake " ) and para Deniz ( "Money Sea" ) is one of the most important breeding areas in the Middle East; more than 300 bird species have been observed here. Among other breed here flamingos, herons, bee-eaters, kingfishers, black-headed gulls, nightingales and Treecreeper Warbler ( Mniotilta varia). The endangered sea turtle Caretta caretta and the blue crab ( Callinectes sapidus ) lay their eggs here. There are only a few nesting sites of this species worldwide.

Emperor Frederick Barbarossa was drowned in 1190 at the Third Crusade near the city of Seleucia in Göksu, which was then called Saleph and was in alliance with Frederick Cilician Armenian principality.
