Gomaringen is a municipality in the district of Tübingen about ten kilometers south of Tübingen and about eleven kilometers southwest of Reutlingen.

Geography

Geographical location

Gomaringen lies in the valley of the Wiesaz, a right tributary of the Steinlach, which flows into the Neckar.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the two districts Gomaringen Gomaringen and Stockach. The districts are spatially identical with the former municipalities of the same name. In the community Gomaringen the council is elected according to the system of loggerhead part of local choice, accordingly, the two districts designated as a residential district constituencies. The district Stockach also forms a town within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code with private Ortschaftsrat and mayor as its chairman.

History

  • Werner von Gomaringen (approx. 1356-1393 ) and Peter of Gomaringen ( 1393-1412 ) from the House of Lords of Gomaringen be abbots of Bebenhausen, the home monastery of the Count Palatine of Tübingen.

Grave mound

  • A group of grave mounds from the Hallstatt period (8th- 7th century BC) in Gomaringen -Stockach. One of the hills in 1938 was found in Wegbauarbeiten and examined by Prof. Dr. Riek. The stele is a cast. The original is in the Württemberg State Museum Stuttgart.

Events

The Christian Festival Rock Without Limits took place from 2008 to 2010 in Gomaringen instead.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The national road 230 connects the municipality with the State Road 27 and thus with Tübingen and Stuttgart. The L 384 leads east to Reutlingen.

The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( NALDO ). The municipality is located in the comb 113 The Gönninger web between Reutlingen and Gönningen was finally discontinued in 1982.
