Gomel Region
The Homelskaja Woblasz (White Russian Гомельская вобласць; Russian Гомельская область / Gomel Oblast ) is an administrative district in the south-east of Belarus. Capital of Woblasz is Homel ( weißr. Гомель; Russian Гомель / Gomel).

The Homelskaja Woblasz has an area of 40,400 km ² and has 1.5054 million inhabitants ( 2004). The south of the Woblasz is characterized by the rivers Pripyat and Dnieper. The Woblasz is one of the most affected by the Chernobyl disaster regions, which is why many people will be resettled from here in the north of the country in the Wizebskaja Woblasz or to Minsk.
Substantial contribution to the resettlement, the German non-profit association home instead of Chernobyl, which performs such as house construction for relocated families in conjunction with the Belarusian partner organization " ÖkoDom " projects.
The Homelskaja Woblasz occupies 19.5 % of the country area and 16.4 % of the population live here. The Woblasz is divided into 21 counties, 278 village Soviets, 17 cities, 8 cities in the region subordination, 18 urban settlements. The city of Homel represents the regional center
Coat of arms
The crest is crocheted changes in four silver and four green fields and a central shield, in Azure, a lynx resting on the ears with black tufts occupied.
The escutcheon is placed a golden three-towered mural crown. At the plate sides each one with a red ribbon ( ribbon of Saint Andrew ) bound golden oak branch.
