Görmitz

Görmitz is a 99.14 -acre island in the backwaters of the island of Usedom. The island is a nature reserve, which looks after the club Jordsand.

Görmitz belongs to the municipality Lütow in the Official On Peenestrom. In the middle of the island there are an inhabited farm, the remains of a holiday home in the south and a beacon.

Until the 1960s, the island was accessible only by private ferry boats from Netzelkow together with Vorwerk.

In the 1960s Görmitz was associated with a dam northeast of the village of Neuendorf of Usedom. The dam consists of rubble and broken concrete that was covered with earth and fastened with a concrete slab road. The construction project was in Lütow associated with crude oil production; on Görmitz was sought in the 1970s and - 80s with 3-4 holes for oil, but the local wells were not profitable and were hired.

History

Over 700 years, it was owned by the family of Lepel. Here was one of the Vorwerk Neuendorfer / Netzelkower goods and the cattle.

1865 had this Barbican, called Holländerei, but only one dwelling house 24 residents.

In 1937 the island was sold to a Dr. Kerkhoff from Dusseldorf.

After 1945 and after the land reform there were refugees land and operated cattle farming and agriculture. The island then became a recreation center for the VEB Nachrichtenelektronik Greifswald and after 1990 through the acquisition of NEG - the property of Siemens AG. The island is now almost completely under protection, in the south there were relics of a Neolithic settlement with a work space for flint tools. In July 2006, Siemens AG sold the island Görmitz to the shareholders of Wertgrund island Görmitz GmbH. However, there was no management and no expansion of the planned resort. The building up on the farmstead are ruinous. Since 2006, the island was leased for agricultural use to a farmer who kept cattle there. Therefore, the island was sold to this farmer from Rostock in August 2012. The northern part of the island is limited foot traffic.
