Gorzyca, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Gorzyca ( German Göritz ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the rural community Malechowo ( Malchow ) in the powiat Slawienski ( Schlawe ).

Geographical location

The old farming village Gorzyca is located on the road connecting Malechowo ( Malchow, along Route 6, former National Highway 2 ) to Darłowo (Rügenwalde, at the province road 205) in a depression of the northern slope of the valley of Grabowa ( Grabow ) over about 30 meters NN. Until after Sławno there are 14, according to Darłowo 13 km. The highest elevation in the field mark is the earlier so-called Sheep Mountain (56 meters).

Neighboring towns of Gorzyca are in the north of Nowy Kraków ( New Krakow) and its forest, in the east Malechowo ( Malchow ), in the south Niemica ( Nemitz ) and Grabowo ( Martin Hagen), and to the west Przystawy ( Pirbstow ).

Place name

Gorzyca was called in the 13th century Guritza and Guritz, since the Middle Ages Göritz in use. The name derives from the Slavic word gora = mountain. The name Göritz came before 1945 in the German Reich six times before, as is the Polish name Gorzyca or Górzyca often appears.

History

Göritz was given in 1267 by Duke Barnim I the monastery Buckow. Since then, it was a Anteidorf, which was incorporated into the Rügenwalder office after the secularization. 1784, the village had one free mayor, 14 farms, 2 Landkossäten, Straßenkossäten 3, 4 Büdner, 1 sub- Förster, 1 school house and one church cabins.

In 1818 Göritz counted 271 inhabitants, their number rose to 1871 to 553 in 1939 and amounted to 451 ( in 111 households ).

By 1945 Göritz belonged to the official and the civil registry district Malchow ( Malechowo ) and district court area Schlawe. It was i Pom district Schlawe. in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania.

At that time the village was still part of the living space forestry house Göritz, a forester of the forest office New Krakow ( Kraków Nowy ), two kilometers north of the village. 1938 a new forestry was about 300 meters south of the railway line Berlin - Szczecin - Gdańsk - Königsberg ( Prussia) on the way from Malchow ( Malechowo ) to Schlawin ( Słowino ) built.

Church

Before 1945 the inhabitants of Göritz were almost exclusively Protestant denomination. The place was in the parish Malchow ( Malechowo ) in the parish of Rügenwalde ( Darłowo ) incorporated in the ecclesiastical province of the Church of the Old Prussian Pomerania Union.

Since 1945, the inhabitants of Gorzyca predominantly Catholic denomination. The two-class school with teacher's residence was in the village on the mountain school.
