Gouzon

Gouzon (also: Gouzougnat; Gosom Occitan ) is a commune with 1526 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), in the Limousin region. It is located in the department of Creuse, Gueret district, and is the most populous city in the canton of Jarnages. The inhabitants are the Gouzonnaises.

Geography

Gouzon is located about 28 kilometers east of Gueret in the Massif Central on the River Voueize. Passing through the municipality national 145 ( European route 62) the route. The station Parsac - Gouzon on the railway line Montlucon Saint- Sulpice- Laurière is located in the neighboring municipality Parsac.

History

A prehistoric like a Gallo- Roman settlement are detected. 1187 emerged the village on the books of the Cistercian Abbey of Bonlieu.
