Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge

The Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge ( " Pont Grande-Duchesse Charlotte ," popularly known Rout Bréck, " Red Bridge ") is a steel bridge spanning the valley of the Alzette in Luxembourg (city) spans and the European Quarter on the Kirchberg plateau with the city center of Luxembourg connects.

It spans the district Pfaffenthal at a height of 74 m above the Alzette. Its length is 355 meters with a span of 234 m, the width is 25 m and the total weight of over 4,900 tons.

The bridge was built by the architect Egon Jux and completed in 1965. It was inaugurated on 24 October 1966.

It is named after Charlotte of Luxembourg.

The bridge has for years attracted suicides. Therefore, in 1990 a protective wall made ​​of Plexiglas was installed, which should prevent jumps from the bridge.
