Grant Hanley

Grant Hanley (born 20 November 1991 Dumfries ) is a Scottish football player. He is currently at Blackburn Rovers under contract. It is preferentially used as a defender, but can also play as a defensive midfielder. Since August 2011 he is also active in the Scottish national team.

Career

After Hanley had gone through the youth teams of Queen of the South and Crewe Alexandra, he moved to the Scottish first division club Glasgow Rangers and tradition. From there in 2008 he managed to jump in the youth team of the Premier League representative Blackburn Rovers.

Under manager Sam Allardyce it was used on the final day of the 2009/10 season in the match against Aston Villa ( 1-0) for the first time. This prompted Hanley to extend his contract with the Rovers in the summer of 2010 to five years. Despite its positive development he could in the following season not prevail against the central defender Christopher Samba and Ryan Nelsen and so came on seven league operations, said he was only once from the start on the field. His first league goal he achieved in March 2011 in the 2:3 defeat to Fulham. In the season 2011/12 he is far more frequently used.

National

Hanley could quickly convince in the U -19 national team of Scotland, so he already got its first use in the U -21 at the age of 18. His first game in the national team of Scotland he graduated on 25 May 2011 at the Nations Cup against Ireland ( 3-1 ).
