Greek Catholic Diocese of Lugoj

The Eparchy of Lugoj (Latin: Dioecesis Lugosiensis, rum. Eparhia de Lugoj ) is a diocese located in Romania, the Romanian Greek-Catholic church located in Lugoj. It includes the counties of Caras -Severin, Timiş, Arad, Hunedoara, Alba and Mehedinţi.

History

Pope Pius IX. founded the bishopric of Lugoj with the Apostolic Constitution Apostles' ministry on November 26, 1853 from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Oradea and the Archbishopric of Fagaras, which it was assumed as a suffragan.
