Grooverider

Grooverider (* April 16, 1967 in London as Raymond Bingham ) is a British drum -and- bass DJ and producer.

Grooverider has been active as a DJ at the pirate radio Phaze One already in the 1980s. He lay there, hip- hop, soul and later on House. He also played on illegal house parties in the London Underground. In 1991 he started together with DJ Fabio hang in clubs. The sound of the two moved from the original hardcore Dark ( gloomy breakbeat ) Jungle and then drum and bass, which they helped shape significantly. In 1994 he founded his own label, Groove Rider Prototype Records and released records by Dillinja, Photek and Ed Rush. In 2001, he had next to his worldwide bookings a weekly drum -and- bass - broadcast on BBC Radio 1 with DJ Fabio.

In November 2007, 2.16 grams of cannabis was found in his luggage upon his arrival at Dubai International Airport. Under current law of the United Arab Emirates, he was sentenced to four years in prison. Grooverider was finally released after four months in September 2008 to freedom.
