Grzegorz Rozenberg

Grzegorz Rozenberg ( born March 14, 1942) is a Polish- Dutch computer scientist.

Rozenberg earned his engineering degree in computer science in 1965 at the University of Warsaw and in 1968 at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Zdzislaw Pawlak in mathematics doctorate ( quasi -uniform machines). He was an assistant professor at the Polish Academy of Sciences and at the University of Utrecht, associate professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a professor at the University of Antwerp, before in 1979 he was a professor at the University of Leiden. He heads the department of theoretical computer science at Leiden Institute for Advanced Computer Science ( LIACS ) and is scientific director of the Leiden Center for Natural Computing ( LCNC ). He is also the adjoint professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

It deals with the theory of formal languages and automata theory, the theory at the same time ( competitor ) running processes (such as Petri Nets, Theory of traces) and recently intensively with Natural Computing, ie in biological systems or biological methods (DNA computing). In this area, is awarded by the International Society for Nanoscale Science, Computation and Engineering of Rozenberg - Tulip Award.

In 2003 he received the EATCS Award. He holds honorary doctorates from the University of Turku, the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Bologna. He is a member of the Academia Europaea, the Finnish Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

He is an amateur magician who is a member of various professional magician companies and also acts as a magician. In addition, he is interested in the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch.
