Gubałówka

The Gubałówka is a 1126 meter high mountain above the Polish city of Zakopane. The mountain is the most famous of the mountain chain Pogórze Spisko - Gubałowskie, although he is not the highest - already the western neighbor, the Butorowy Wierch, is slightly higher with 1160 meters.

On the mountain there is a small settlement, in particular shops and restaurants, but also a small chapel. Also located on the mountain a transmitter for FM and television programs ( RTON Gubałówka ), as antenna support acts a 102 -meter-high free-standing steel lattice tower.

In addition to the views of the town Zakopane mountain offers views of the Podhale and the south lies the High Tatras, and in particular well-known peaks such as Giewont, Kasprowy Peak and Świnica.

Cable car

On the mountain leads a funicular railway, which was opened in December 1938 after 168 days of construction. The reason for the construction of the railway were the 1939 discharged in Zakopane Nordic World Ski Championships. The rolling stock and the rails were thereby delivered by the Swiss company Von Roll. In 2001 the railway was completely modernized by Doppelmayr. The railway is operated by the Polskie Koleje Linowe ( PKL, " Polish mountain railways ").

The distance is 1298 meters, the height difference 299 meters. The base station is located at an altitude of 823 meters, the mountain station at 1122 meters. The driving speed is 36 km / h travel time is about 3 ½ minutes A car can accommodate 120 people. The train runs every half hour 7:30 to 22:00, more frequently if necessary. The maximum capacity is 2000 persons per hour per direction.

Activities

There are several marked hiking trails. In westlicherer towards the bumpered with a black signpost route runs through the valley of Czarny Dunajec. To the west, you can also reach the village Chochołów. To the east, a trail leads to Poronin.
