Gudrun Beckmann

Gudrun Beckmann ( born August 17, 1955 in Dusseldorf ) is a former German swimmer who competed for the Federal Republic of Germany. She won two Olympic bronze medals in 1972.

Career

Gudrun Beckmann started until 1975 for the DSV - school Max Ritter Saarbrücken and then moved to SSF Bonn. At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 they improved in the 100 meters butterfly the ( West) German record 1:04,15 minutes and thus was seventh. The German 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay in the cast Jutta Weber, Heidemarie Reineck, Gudrun Beckmann and Angela Steinbach won bronze behind the seasons from the United States and the GDR. Also bronze she won the 4 × 100-meter medley relay in the cast Silke Pielen, Verena Eberle, Gudrun Beckmann and Heidemarie Reineck.

In 1973, the first World Swimming Championship was held in Belgrade. The freestyle relay won in the same occupation as in Munich bronze behind the German Democratic Republic and the USA. After a sixth place in the 100 meters butterfly, she won a second bronze medal with the medley relay in the cast Angelika Grieser, Petra Nows, Gudrun Beckmann and Jutta Weber. At the European Championships in Vienna in 1974 and at the World Swimming Championships in 1975 in Cali Beckmann was each seventh in the 100 meters butterfly. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal reached Beckmann not the final and retired with the medley relay in the run- off. In the freestyle relay, it was used only in the flow.

Gudrun Beckmann was 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1977 German champion in the 100 meters butterfly.
