Guéret
Gueret ( Occitan Garait [ gɒraj, gɒre ] ) is a commune with 13,563 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Limousin region. It is the administrative seat (prefecture) of the department of Creuse, Gueret district and three cantons.
History
In the 7th century founded Lantarius, Count of Limoges, on his estate Garactus a monastery, in which he ( or St. Pardoux ) began the hermit Pardulphe as abbot. To this monastery developed a place.
The city was the capital of the Haute Marche in 1514, its status as the administrative headquarters was in 1790, in the design of the departments, confirmed.

- Gueret -Sud -Ouest
