Guido Görtzen

Guido Görtzen ( born November 9, 1970 in Heerlen ) is a former Dutch volleyball player.

Guido Görtzen began with the volleyball with their home club VCL Geevers and later at Nashua Geldrop and Alcom Capelle, with whom he won the Dutch Cup in 1995. Then the outside attackers and defensive specialist moved to Italy to Gabeca Montichiari. After three years in Japan at the Panasonic Panthers he returned to the Italian league and won with Pallavolo Modena 2002 championship. He then played two years at Premier League rivals Perugia Volley. From 2004 to 2006 Guido Görtzen was active in Russia Iskra Odintsovo. He then played again in his home and was charged with Ortec Rotterdam Nesselande again Dutch Cup winner. In his last active season 2007/ 08 Guido Görtzen played at Moers SC in the German Bundesliga.

Guido Görtzen played 425 times for the Dutch national team. He participated in three Olympic Games and won the gold medal in Atlanta in 1996. Other highlights were winning the World League in 1996 and the victory at the European Championships in 1997 in their own country.
