Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg

Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie of Nassau ( born November 11, 1981 in Luxembourg ) is the eldest son of Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Duke of Nassau. He bears the title " Grand Duke of Luxembourg ", " Hereditary Prince of Nassau " and since December 18, 2000, " Prince of Bourbon -Parma ".

Childhood and education

Prince Guillaume was born on 11 November 1981 in Luxembourg as the first of five children of Grand Duke Henri and his wife Maria Teresa. After his primary school days, the prince visited the High School Robert Schumann ( Lycée Robert Schuman ) in Luxembourg through eighth grade and then moved to the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil in Switzerland, where he passed the French High School in 2001.

Then the prince completed a one-year military training at the Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK. In 2002, he began a study of politics and history at the University of Durham in Britain. In September 2005 he moved to the Brunel University in London ( International Politics ). In June 2009 he completed his studies in political science at the University of Angers, France successfully.

Marriage and Family

On April 28, 2012, the Grand Duke became engaged with the Belgian Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy. The civil ceremony took place on October 19, 2012, the church on the following day in the Notre-Dame Cathedral by Archbishop Jean -Claude Hollerech.

Tasks and interests

Since his appointment as Heir Apparent on 18 December 2000 Prince Guillaume is increasingly present at official occasions. Member of the Luxembourg Council of State he is since 24 June 2005. Disabled for he serves as President of the " Fondation Kräizbierg ". As patron, he acts for the headquarters of the Youth, the Youth Harmony Orchestra of the European Union and the Luxembourg Cycling Federation. By Guillaume Hereditary Grand Duke Grand Ducal decree was appointed lieutenant colonel of the army. He is fluent in Luxembourgish, German, French, English and Spanish.

Commemorative Coins

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume has also been honored twice by the Luxembourg government with commemorative coins. The first appeared in 2006 on the occasion of his 25th birthday, the other to his wedding in 2012.
