Güira de Melena is a city and a municipality in the Cuban province of Artemisa. By 2010, the municipality belonged to the defunct province of La Habana.

The city is located southwest of San Antonio de los Baños and east of Alquizar. The settlement was officially founded in 1779.

The municipality counts 37,838 inhabitants in an area of 178 km ², which corresponds to a population density of 212.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The area is dominated by agriculture, are grown sugar cane, pineapples, bananas, potatoes and tobacco. In the city also exist cigar factories.

The municipality is divided into six neighborhoods ( barrios ) divided: Gabriel, Pueblo Norte, Sibanacán, Sur Pueblo, Tumbadero and Turibacoa.
