Gunnar Malmquist

Karl Gunnar Malmquist ( born February 21, 1893 in Ystad, † 27 June 1982) was a Swedish astronomer.

Malmquist studied under Carl Charlier at the Old Observatory of the University of Lund. From 1939 to 1959 he was professor of astronomy at Uppsala University. The asteroid Malmquista is named after him.
