Günter Güttler

Günter Güttler ( born May 31, 1961 in Erlangen ) is a German football coach and former football player.

Career

Player

Güttler began at SC Herzogenaurach North to play soccer and was then up to the C- youth at the 1 FC Herzogenaurach active (together with Lothar Matthäus ), before moving to local rivals ASV Herzogenaurach. With the A - youth team he rose in 1978 to Bayern league in which he played 40 league games in two seasons and scored 17 goals.

1980 Güttler received a license contract player at Bayern Munich for the 1980/81 Bundesliga season after it became aware of Güttler. On October 31, 1980 ( 12th Round ), he made his Bundesliga debut when he came on as a substitute in the 4-2 win at home to 1.FC Nuremberg in the 73rd minute for Paul Breitner; it remained his only game in his first pro season. The following season he was used eight times and scored two goals; both on 30 March 1982 (26th Round ) in the 3-0 win in the away match against 1.FC Nuremberg. In Europe Champions Cup he played four times; twice against Östers IF, once against FC Universitatea Craiova and in the final against Aston Villa. In the third game of the year, he played only two Bundesliga games; his last on June 4, 1983 ( 34th Round ) in the 3-2 win in the away match against 1.FC Nuremberg.

In the 1983/84 season he played in Belgium for the first division club KV Mechelen and returned after just one season back to Germany for 1st FC Nuremberg, for he 1984/85, first played in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the climb, he played from 1985 to 1987 in the Bundesliga and moved to league rivals SV Waldhof Mannheim, for which he also completed three seasons.

From 1990 to 1994 - here in the first year, first in the 2nd Bundesliga - he was now playing as a defender for FC Schalke 04, also for the 3-1 win on 19 August 1992, in the away game against the RSV Göttingen 05 he a game in the DFB Cup competition denied.

Coach

After ending his playing career Güttler acquired the coaching license and received in 1996 as assistant coach at FC Cologne 1 his first job. From 1998 to 2001 he was in charge - now solely responsible - the ASV Neumarkt. When his childhood friend Lothar Matthäus in 2001 Rapid Wien took over as coach, Güttler became his assistant.

Güttler supervised from 9 April 2006 Regionalliga side SSV Jahn Regensburg, who at that time was to place in the table 15 of the Regionalliga Süd, but was unable to prevent relegation. In the season 2006/2007 he succeeded, however, to bring the SSV Jahn Regensburg back on track. With the 4-0 victory against 1 FC Nuremberg II he was on 12 May 2007 to celebrate the early Bavarian League Championship, which meant the direct resurgence. The following year, despite a poor second half the qualification was obtained ( 9th place ) for the newly created 3rd league.

Güttler was presented on 20 June 2008 in Burghausen as the new coach. Due to the sporting descent, the SV Wacker Burghausen separated on 15 April 2009 by him. From the 2010/2011 season looked Güttler the southern regional division SpVgg Weiden. There he signed a valid from July 1, 2010 and expires on June 30, 2012 employment contract that included an option for an extension in the case of the rise in the 3rd league.
