Guru Angad

Guru Angad Dev ( Punjabi: ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ; born March 31, 1504 Matae di Saran, † March 28, 1552 ) was one of the ten founding Gurus of Sikhism.

Guru Angad Dev was born on 31 March 1504 Matae di Saran. At the age of 15, he married his wife Mata Khivi. During his marriage three children were born to him, two sons and a daughter. Before he came to Sikhism, he said Lehna. Lehna was very religious. He became a religious leader in his village prayed and danced to the goddess Durga.

At 28, he first met Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikhs. Full of enthusiasm for the new theories, he served five years with him. Three months before Guru Nanak died, he appointed Lehna the second guru and gave him the name Angad Dev Angad Dev took over and now corrected written by Guru Nanak texts and hymns of praise. These were written in Punjabi. Thus a completely new language, known as Gurmukhi was ( spoken from the Guru 's mouth ). After twelve years and nine months Angad Dev Amar appointed the third Guru of the Sikhs.
