Guru Har Krishan

Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji The ( Punjabi: ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ [ ɡʊru həɾ kɾɪʃən ]; born July 23, 1656 in Kiratpur, † March 30, 1664 in Delhi ) was the eighth of eleven Sikh gurus. He lived 23 July 1656 to March 30, 1664 and joined the Sikh Guru Har Rai succeeded his father on October 7, 1661. Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji is often referred to because of the Sikh Gurus sequence as " The eighth Masters".

Childhood

To the world came Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji in Kiratpur (also Kiratpur Sahib ), a district of Punjab, the son of Guru Har Rai and Krishan Kaur. His father chose him shortly before his death in October 1661 as the new guru, although the privilege would have been entitled to the elder son Ram Rai. Har Krishan was at this time five years old.

Appointment to the Guru

In order to decide the successor of the Sikh Gurus between his two sons Ram Rai and Har Krishan, his father Har Rai chose an unusual way. He sent a confidant to the two sons. There he was to insert a needle into the leg of the bed, on which the two boys sat and to recite from collections of Sikh prayers. The Familiar did as commanded him and was very surprised when he found that the needle kept in bed with the prayers of Har Krishan, when Ram Rai is not. Addressed by the familiar fact explained Ram Rai, the durability of the needle was a parable for the weak of heart at Har Krishan and a hard heart for himself. Then the father's choice fell on Har Krishan.

Act as Guru

Ram Rai felt disadvantaged and complained to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb sixth over lack of loyalty and not discriminate in its inheritance share. An adversary named Chhajju was converted while traveling through a simple touch Har Krishans.

Death

The Guru and his entourage were greeted enthusiastically in Delhi, where they were guests of Raja Jai Singh. When the city was devastated by a smallpox epidemic, Har Krishan was also among the many helpers. Then he fell sick with smallpox and even certain why on March 30, 1664 his successor. To this end, he allowed himself - already weakened by the disease - bringing five coins and a coconut.
