Gustavo Zagrebelsky

Gustavo Zagrebelsky ( born June 1, 1943 in San Germano Chisone ) is an Italian lawyer, emeritus professor and former President of the Italian Constitutional Court.

Life

Zagrebelsky has taught at the Università di Torino Constitutional Law and General theory of public law. On September 13, 1995, he became a judge of the Constitutional Court and was from January 28 to September 13, 2004 its president. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. In the Academy of Sciences of Chile, he is a corresponding member.

In addition, he is active as a journalist, formerly of La Stampa, now (as of 2011 ) in La Repubblica. He held the Presidency of both the Association Libertà e Giustizia and the Biennale, founded in 2009 Democrats.

Vladimiro Zagrebelsky ( born 1940 ), former Judge at the European Court of Human Rights, is his brother.
