Guy Marie Alexandre Thomazeau

Guy Marie Alexandre Thomazeau ( born December 5, 1937 in Neuilly -sur -Seine, Hauts -de -Seine, France) is a retired Archbishop of Montpellier and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nice.

Life

Guy Thomazeau received on 18 December 1965, and was ordained priest incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Paris.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 12 November 1988 Titular Bishop of Chunavia and Auxiliary Bishop of Meaux. The Bishop of Meaux, Louis Pierre Joseph Cornet, donated to him on 8 January 1989, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Jean cumin aldehyde, Bishop of Saint -Flour, and Louis Michel Coloni, Bishop of Dijon.

On September 14, 1994, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Beauvais. After the retirement of Adolphe -Maria Gustave Hardy he followed them in the ministry of the Bishop of Beauvais. On 28 August 2002 he was appointed bishop of Montpellier. John Paul II elevated the diocese on 16 December 2002 to the archbishopric, which Thomazeau first Archbishop of Montpellier was.

Pope Benedict XVI. adopted on 3 June 2011 will be on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation. On August 8, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nice.
