Haigslea, Queensland

Haigslea is now a suburb of Ipswich in Queensland, Australia, formerly Kirchheim said. At the site of the Warrego Highway passes. In 2006, the population was 422

Kirchheim was founded by German settlers. In the anti-German sentiment during the First World War, the town was renamed, as well as numerous other places with German names. Was name derives Douglas Haig (1861-1928), who in 1915 fought as a general in the British Army until 1918 in France.

1913 contributed 60% of the farmers in Kirchheim German name and German settlements ranged from Marburg until after Walloon. 1874, the community had built a Lutheran church that was destroyed by a cyclone in 1924 and then not rebuilt.

In the village the Haigslea State School, which was built in 1876 and in the vicinity is the Australian Motorcycle Museum.
