The Warrego Highway is a highway in the south of the Australian state of Queensland. It runs over 720 km between Charleville in south-west of the state and Ipswich, a western suburb of the capital Brisbane. It is part of the Australian highway system and important part of the connection between Brisbane and Darwin. At the same time he is an important link of the rural areas of Southwest Queensland with the metropolitan area around the capital Brisbane.

Course

The Warrego Highway begins in Charleville, a small town in southwest Queensland. This lies at the Warrego River, from which also the Highway takes its name. From Charleville from the road runs in an easterly direction. After about 90 km of the Landsborough Highway ( NA2 ) from Longreach and Cloncurry in the north pushes Coming on the Warrego Highway.

Then the Warrego Highway runs further than 180 km in the east to Roma, a city surrounded by big gas reserves, which are used to power the country. In Roma the Carnarvon Highway ( A55 ) from St. George coming meets the Warrego Highway. After a further 140 km, the small town of Miles is reached. Here crosses the running in the north-south Rivhtung Leichhardt Highway ( A5). The Warrego Highway runs further to the east until it reaches Dalby. The Warrego Highway runs then 85 km to the southeast to Toowoomba, the second largest city in Australia that are not located on the coast, but inland.
